Services between the UK and the Greek city of Volos

Award winning leisure airline Monarch is the first UK airline to announce services between the UK and the Greek city of Volos (Pelion) for Summer 2009. These new charter flights will depart from Gatwick and Manchester each Friday between 15 May and 09 October 2009, with fares from as little as £239 return, including all taxes and charges. Volos hosting Mediterranean Games in 2013

Volos will be hosting the 17th edition of the Mediterranean Games in 2013, together with 2nd hosting city Larissa. The Games are scheduled from 24 June until 3 July 2013 and will include 27 sports disciplines with more than 4000 athletes to participate. The official event categories are: archery, athletics, basketball, beach volleyball, bowl, boxing, canoeing, cycling, equestrian, fencing, football (soccer), golf, gymnastics artistic, gymnastics rhythmic, handball, judo, karate, rowing, sailing, shooting, swimming, table tennis, tennis, volleyball, water polo, weightlifting and wrestling.
